Sotheby's, London, 31 May 1991, lot 195.

The present pair of pedestals are designed after the celebrated model made circa 1785, surmounted by a clock adorned by cloud-born putti, attributed to Jean-Henri Riesener and now in the permanent collection of the Musée du Louvre (inv. nr. OA 5501). This was one of the most popular of the 18th century models, admired and copied by the finest cabinetmakers of the late 19th century.

Other 19th century examples after this model were sold, including a pair at Christie's, London, 9 February 2023, lot 190.
