FIRST EDITION, small 4to (173 x 120mm.), printed sectional title to “Muoipotmos, or the fate of the butterfly” within woodcut border, later dark blue morocco with double blind fillet border, board edges with gilt roll, lacking the main and some of the divisional titles, also missing portions of the text, and parts are bound out of order (see note, sold not subject to return)
A work rarely found complete. In this copy “Muiopotmos” is complete with its attractive title. “Visions of the worlds vanitie”, “Ruins of Rome” and “The visions of Bellay” are textually complete but, without their sectional titles. “Prosopopoia or Mother Hubbards tale” is present in portions and has its sectional title. The highly erratic collation is T4 V4 X2 B2 B3 Y1–Y3 Z1 L4 Q4 R–S4.
