A SUPERB FACSIMILE OF PTOLEMY'S COSMOGRAPHIA OF 1472, published by the Vatican.

Commissioned by the Duke of Urbino in 1472/3, the original manuscript arrived at the Vatican Library in 1657. 550 facsimiles were published by the Library in 1983; 500 of these were meant for sale, and fifty were to be kept by the Library for use as state gifts. Each of these state gifts was marked with a Roman numeral I-L; the present copy is marked 'VII'.
