FIRST EDITION, number 9 of 140 copies, ad personam copy for Spyros Loverdos, large oblong folio (515 x 667mm.), 24 coloured facsimile plates after Zografos, together with a booklet of descriptive text by Frédéric Boissonnas and Johannes Gennadius in printed wrappers and containing three photogravure plates, both housed in original portfolio with Greek flag and large printed title label on upper cover
A set of prints after the celebrated series of paintings commissioned by General Makriyannis sometime during the 1830s from the painter Panayotis Zographos. The subjects vividly depict episodes from the Greek War of Independence, the last being a memorial list of Philhellenes active in Greece during the war.
