First and only edition of a rare work on the prediction of solar eclipses.

Though the Italian mathematician published four or five other titles, very little is known about Guerrino’s life and work. Guerrino dedicated the present treatise to Countess Clelia Grillo Borromeo Arese (1684-1777), a Genoan noblewoman and founder of the Clelian Academy, which was modeled after the Royal Academy and French Academy of Sciences.

4to (252 x 205 mm). Folding engraved author portrait, 13 engraved plates, numerous in-text woodcut diagrams; a few wormholes and light foxing throughout, a few tears. Contemporary marbled calf, spine in six compartments with repeat gilt design, marbled endpapers, edges sprinkled red; worn, partial loss to foot, some wormholes.
