Annales de Chimie et des Physique. Volume 15. September–December. Paris: Chez Crochard, 1820


First separate editions of four issues of the French journal Annaeles de Chimie et des Physique, with its September issue featuring "Memoire sur les effets des courans electriques [with Suite du memoire]" by André-Marie Ampère. The first appearance of the first of a series of important papers reporting Ampère’s discoveries on the electric current.


Other important papers within the present lot are the first French translation of Faraday and Stoddart on Steel Alloys (October issue), and Pelletier and Caventou’s work on the isolation of quinine. 


4 parts, 8vo (221 x 139 mm), Stitched, copperplate engravings; a few tears, some leaves unopened. Original printed wrappers; somewhat soiled, few stains, September issue rebacked.
