Anonymous sale, London, Bonhams, 24 October 2018, lot 165 (as studio of Alessandro Turchi, called l'Orbetto), for £50,000;
Where acquired by the present owner.
This composition relates closely to a painting on marble by l'Orbetto, which was previously in the Duc d' Orleans collection.1 Another autograph version of the composition, on canvas, was in a private collection in Emilia Romagna in 1997.2
