the shallow octagonal dish on short raised foot, decorated in green, yellow, blue, red and aubergine enamels, with tortoise shell patterns (kikko) alternately depicting ho-o and a small bird perched on floral spray surrounding a central octagonal reserve with geometric pattern, chocolate rim, decorated on the underside in underglaze blue with four floral sprays, each composed of a large floret centred by scrolling stems and leaves, with a band of comb design around the foot, accompanied with a fitted wood storage box
