A Gold and Hardstone Double-Opening Snuffbox, Probably London, mid-18th Century
circular, each lid set with gold panels chased with hunting scenes alternating lapis lazuli panels carved with a diaper pattern, each centred with a chased gold plaque featuring on one side, The Fox and the Stork from Aesop's fables and on the other, Diana and her Hound, the sides decorated with sablé gold bands chased with hounds and deer within landscapes, gold interior divider, with slightly raised scroll thumbpieces, apparently unmarked apart from two later French import marks,
