The Ritz Paris was founded by César Ritz in 1898. A model of luxury, the hotel made history as the first to have private bathrooms and electricity in every room. For over a century, the hotel has hosted distinguished guests from all around the world, including Ernest Hemingway, Cole Porter, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel. In an effort to preserve its history and maintain the highest standard of luxury, the hotel underwent major renovations in both the 1970s and the 2010s under its new owner, Mohamed Al-Fayed. After the renovations were completed in 2016, property from the hotel was sold in two major auctions, happening in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
