The rigorously linear, almost modernist design of this striking desk chair reflects the elegance of its previous owner, the legendary collector, philanthropist and style icon Jayne Wrightsman (1919-2019), whose gifts and bequests of 18th-century French decorative arts to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York transformed the institutions' holdings in the field.
