Jeanne Sloane, Artistry and Enterprise: American Silver 1660-1790 - Survey of American Colonial silver held in the collection of Roy J. Zuckerberg, New York, Smallwood & Stewart, 2018, no. 8, p. 26-27

Although this piece has so far been unrecorded, twenty-four other porringers by this prolific maker are listed in Patricia Kane's book, Colonial Massachusetts Silversmiths and Jewelers.

The design of this porringer is similar to English examples of the late 17th century. A London-made example from 1681 has the same handle pattern (Ellenor Alcorn, English Silver in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 1993. no. 83. p. 172).
