Christie’s London, 6 December 2007, lot 104 (sold 3 750£)

The combination of gilt bronze and cut crystal was very fashionable during the Restauration. Thus, the Duchess of Berry commissioned from the Escalier de Cristal, gallery of the widow Désarnaud-Charpentier and precursor of this fashion, a magnificent in gilt bronze and cut crystal table de toilette in the same style as our candlesticks, a piece of furniture now in the Louvre Museum (OA11229).
