Description
each modelled, probably by Joseph Nees, seated on a stool or chair in a state of undress, on a rectangular white base with tasselled drapery, comprising:
a lady playing a guitar before a music stand,
a lady playing the spinnet, a sheet of music resting on her knee,
and a man leaning on a small table, playing a cello, a sheet of music resting on his knee,
crowned interlaced CC monogram mark in underglaze-blue to both female figures, the male figure with interlaced CC monogram mark in underglaze-blue, all with various incised letters and numerals
Height of tallest 12.3 cm, 4 ⅞ in
Other examples of these models, which are smaller slightly adapted versions of those created for the' Große Musiksoli' Series, are illustrated by Hans Dieter Flach, Ludwigsburger Porzellan, Fayence, Steingut, Kacheln, Fliesen, Stuttgart, 1997, p. 564, no. 503 (spinnet player), no. 507 (guitar player) and p. 545, no. 331 (guitar player). The cello player and the guitar player are attributed to Joseph Nees on p. 400, and were first created circa 1764-67.
