painted on each side with two large scenes of European figures by quaysides, within iron-red, puce and gilt scroll-edged shaped quatrefoil cartouches, the iron-red scrolls supporting small chinoiserie figures, separated by sprays of indianische Blumen, with a gilt-scroll band at the rim, the cover with a similar continuous scene with figures in a harbour, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 71. to both pieces
