34 works in 29 volumes (varying in size and bindings). Leaves variously toned, some text lightly foxed at the margins, but otherwise a clean collection. Bindings variously worn and toned, several disbound.

This comprehensive collection of early Mexican printings of constitutions, ordinances, and essays weaves together various moments of Mexican political history. Covering laws at both the regional and imperial level, these printings mark the travails of statehood and nation-making. Constitution by constitution and law by law, this collection demonstrates the Mexican effort to codify its legitimacy and shape its early attempt of self-government. With the majority of the archive printed in or before 1831, many of these regional laws were applicable to Southwestern areas of United States. Printed in anticipation of the Mexican Constitution of 1824, Martin Rivera's printing of the U.S. Constitution in Spanish includes two addresses by George Washington.

Scarce, with 17 of the works not in NUC, and six more cited at only one or two locations.
