surmounted by Hercules and the hound Cerberus atop a rocky mound, above four attendant figures comprising a female figure, possibly Pomona, flanked by two beehives emblematic of Mount Hymettus, Ceres with a plough, Mars with a shield and Minerva with a spear, upon an integral columnar-shaped base, incised crossed-arrows mark and letter A

A hard-paste porcelain factory was established in 1772 by Jean-Baptiste Locré (1726-1810), with Laurent Russinger (1739-1810), formerly a modeller at Höchst, as its director. The manufactory's mark of two crossed arrows was registered the following year, on 14 July 1773. A comparable figure group depicting The Labours of Hercules, surmounted by a central figure of Hercules slaying the Lernaean Hydra, forms the principal group of a biscuit porcelain surtout in the Musei Civici di Treviso, illustrated in Régine de Plinval de Guillebon, Faïence et Porcelaine de Paris, Dijon, 1995, pp. 114-115, pl. 84, and Les Biscuits de Porcelaine de Paris, XVIIIe-XIXe siècles, Dijon, 2012, p. 63, figs. 49-50. A further related monumental group of Meleager and Atalanta, probably identical to the model exhibited by the manufactory at the first Exposition des produits de l'industrie française in Year VII (1798-1799), was offered at Christie's, Paris, 20 April 2023, lot 768.
