modeled after a Delft original, the center decorated with floral sprigs in a two-handled vase, the top of the sconce surmounted by a lady in European dress

The present work appears to be an unrecorded form, modeled after a Delft original. Compare a Dutch Delft example of similar form, sold Christie's New York , April 6th, 2005, lot 93. Figural finials were also known in Dutch Delft wall sconces, compare two examples in the collection of the Rijksmuseum, object no. BK-NM-12400-14-A and B.
