rectangular with cut corners, all sides later set à cage with nineteenth century portrait miniatures of animated festivities and bacchic scenes including nymphs and satyrs celebrating and sacrificing to Silenus and Bacchus, surrounded by classical architecture and trees being decorated with flower garlands by putti, within painted garland-tied bamboo frames against a blue background, spuriously signed and dated 'van Blarenberghe, 1757' to banner on base, the gold mounts chased with acanthus leaves on sablé ground, alternating with polished gold bands, rubbed maker's mark D?B?, charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prevost (1762-1768), Paris date letters C and D, the right rim numbered: 521, with a paper label printed: Collection/de Monsieur le Baron/Henri de Rothschild, no. 96,
