Julian Fałat is renowned as a master of watercolours. He initially chose this medium as he was too poor to afford oils. However, he remained faithful to the medium throughout his career, having learned to appreciate its fluidity, and the ability to spontaneously render visual impressions through a medium that could not be corrected, and whose mastery therefore required great skill.
