The present model appears to be derived from the central figure in a bronze relief of Venice Triumphant in the Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Venice, which has been attributed to Nicolò Roccatagliata and his son, Sebastiano Nicolini (see C. Kryza-Gersch, 'Due altari seicenteschi a San Marco: Nicolò Roccatagliata e Sebastiano Nicolini, e la produzione di ornamenti in bronzo per le chiese veneziane', in M. Ceriana and V.
