Where acquired.
This charming group of the Virgin and Child with Saint Anne relates closely to the presumed oeuvre of the elusive 'Master of Elsloo'. Compare the sweet faces with small, upturned mouths and heavy eyelids, as well as the expressive curls of the Virgin, crumpled draperies and general composition with the Anna Selbdritt group at the Church of Saint Augustine in Elsloo (op. cit., cat. no. 1), which is considered the prototype for related groups associated with the Master. Similar parallels can be drawn with the Anna Selbdritt in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (inv. no. BK-NM-1278; see op. cit., cat. no. 7).
