Lincoln, Abraham

Engraved broadside document signed (“Abraham Lincoln”) as sixteenth President, on vellum (498 x 400 mm), accomplished in a clerical hand, Washington, 1 March 1864, appointing Francis Fuller to the position of Assistant Quartermaster of Volunteers with the rank of Captain, countersigned by the Secretary of War (“Edwin Stanton”), embossed green paper seal, martial vignettes by J. V. N. and C. H. Throop at head and foot, recording docket signed by Assistant Adjutant General E. D. Townsend at upper left; very light fold creases, withal an unusually fresh and clean example.
