Volume 4 only of a collected edition of Hume's Essays, 12mo (165 x 98 mm). Some mrginal browning at beginning and end. some early underscoring and other reader's marks. Contemporary calf, red-sprinkled edges, contemporary manuscript notes on endpapers; very worn, covers detached. Brown morocco folding-case gilt.


Signed by Hume ("David Hume") on the verso of the front free endpaper facing the title and with another, clipped signature pasted to the title-page.
