4to (29 x 21cm), limited to 308 copies of which this is one of 300 on paper, printed in red and black, ornamental woodcut borders, title and initials, inserted slip ("Note to Reader") not present, gilt-lettered spine, original limp vellum with green ties, yapp edges, light spotting to edges, light warping to covers


One of 300 copies (on paper) of an edition of 308. Peterson reports that Morris stated that Beowulf was "the first and the best poem of the English race".
