Counterfeit of the second issue, incorporating new material into signature A (expanded from 8 to 12 leaves).
8vo (165 x 95 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: π4 A12 B-Z8 aa-cc8: 216 leaves (cc8 blank). Foliated in brown ink. (Intermittent light marginal dampstaining, a few leaves more heavily stained, A6-7 extended and possibly supplied prior to the foliation.)
binding: Contemporary Italian brown morocco over wooden boards (175 x 104 mm), beveled, tooled in blind, outer empty frame with miters at corners, inner frame flanked by double fillets containing repeated rope work tool, four leather clasps with brass catches (probably later) attaching to upper cover, spine with two bands, blind saltires in compartments, pastedowns are printer’s waste from an early Latin edition of Aesop’s Fables. (Worn and stained, rebacked with much of the original spine laid down, front pastedown lightly wormed, hinges cracked.)
