SAVIGNY, CHRISTOFLE DE. Tableaux accomplis de tous les arts liberaux. Paris: Jean de Gourmont & François de Gourmont, 1587
A rare instructional compilation designed to educate youth in the principal disciplines in arts and sciences, each depicted in diagrammatic form, with an accompanying explanatory text sheet. Included in the work are two rare world maps; a small woodcut map of the Western Hemisphere in the leaf "Cosmographie" and a large oval woodcut map of the world after Ortelius in "Geographie". According to Shirley, this map is based on the world map in Belleforest's edition of Munster's Cosmographia published in Paris in 1587. The woodcuts have been attributed both to Jean Cousin and Jean de Gourmont (though the blocks do not appear in the latter’s post-mortem inventory, 22 July 1598).
