GIOVIO, PAOLO & GABRIELE SIMEONI. Tetrastiques faictz sur les devises. Lyon: Guillaume Rouillé, 1560
RARE COPY OF AN EMBLEM BOOK, known more widely by reprints of this edition.
A mixture of moral emblems and historical figures. This text was published several times, as the plates were intended to be used as models for stained glass in homes. This may explain the scarcity of surviving copies, if many were destroyed through this use.
This copy was previously in the Yates-Thompson-Bright library, considered the most important private collection of emblem books ever formed.
