Tiquisate style figures represent one of the many influences from Teotihuacan on art in the southern Maya area. The female figures typically show a formal posture with the folded arm and enlarged flattened hand on the skirt. Here the stark expression conveys the alert and lively figure. Elaborate costume elements include the large bracelets, necklace and earrings, patterned textile sleeves, and layered headband.
