Description

E.H. Shepard

A drawing of Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet, titled "Pooh and Piglet" and signed by the artist, ink on paper, laid down on card, 178 x 127 mm, framed and glazed (frame 195 x 145 mm), light spotting

Stanley Seeger and Christopher Cone had a shared love for Shepard's illustrations for A.A. Milne's children's classics. Their collection was sold in these rooms ("That Sort of Bear": E.H. Shepard's Winnie-the-Pooh, from the collection of Stanley J. Seeger and Christopher Cone, 17 December 2008), but this example of Shepard's artistry was a particular favourite and so was retained by the couple.
