8vo (c. 250 x 165 mm), London & New York, 1891, publisher’s red cloth stamped in gilt and blind, gilt edges, slight smudging to inscription, spine a little sunned

 

Dvořák’s great Requiem Mass was composed in 1890 and first performed in Birmingham on 9 October 1891, with the composer conducting. This copy of the vocal score was presented by Dvořák to his friend the composer and choirmaster Karel Bendl (1838-1897), with whom he had been acquainted since the time of his studies at the organ school in Prague.
