The body of the present casket is painted in a deep midnight blue with subtle turquoise accents along the edge, while the top is highlighted with bright white enamel. Gilt decoration in intricate patterns is methodically repeated along the exterior, while the interior is adorned by stars.

This casket, similarly to lots 12, 31 and 59, is situated within a distinct group of Venetian enamel works produced in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. For a further discussion on the production of Venetian enamelworks, see lot 12.
