the surface decorated with an oval portrait of Marshal Mikhail Kutusoff (Kutuzov) painted en grisaille after an engraving by Heath, within a ciselé gilt border inscribed in Cyrillic 'Prince Golenishchev Kutuzov Smolenskii', reserved on a dark-blue ground decorated with ciselé gilt trophies of war, with figural handle, raised on three paw feet, apparently unmarked
