Attributed to Maria van Oosterwijck

These attractive still-lifes bear labels on the frames attributing them to the talented Dutch painter Maria van Oosterwijck, whose flower paintings were much admired both in her own time and thereafter. No gouaches by Van Oosterwijck have previously been recorded, but the signatures do correspond – in as far as they are still legible – with her name, and the compositions seem consistent with her style.
