Paris, L'Espace Tajan, Nevermore: Adrian Ghenie, 9 - 30 October 2020
Created in 2020, Nevermore comprises seven digital prints that dismantle traditional portraiture into fractured compositions, producing faces that feel transformed, unstable, and symbolic rather than representational. Drawing on Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven, the title Nevermore reflects Ghenie's interest in exploring memory, loss, and psychological unrest. By merging digital processes with a painterly visual language, the artist creates works that bridge historical references with contemporary expression. Issued in a limited edition of 50, each portfolio is signed by the artist and accompanied by poems by Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Baudelaire, Stéphane Mallarmé and Fernando Pessoa. This deluxe example is one of only fifteen sets accompanied by text by Bernard Blistène, Director of the Centre Pompidou.
