On the conclusion of peace with France in 1814, the allied sovereigns Alexander I, Emperor of Russia and Frederick William III of Prussia were entertained, together with H.R.H. The Prince Regent, by the Corporation of London at a banquet in the Guildhall. The Lord Mayor, Sir William Domville (seen here holding the sword to the left of the Prince Regent), Aldermen and Sheriffs, together with a civic party of Officers, met the State procession at Temple Bar and conducted it to the Guildhall, where the Prince Regent conferred a baronetcy on the Lord Mayor. Further pictures commemorating the occasion were painted by George Clint and William Daniell (Guildhall Library Collections).
