rectangular with cut corners, the lid painted with two classical figures en grisaille, flanking an enamel medallion of a young woman pondering, in a floral paillon frame, on a translucent dark purple enamel ground over engine-turning, further paillon borders and opaque white enamel rims, chased and polished gold mounts, the sides and base similarly decorated, illegible maker’s mark, charge and discharge mark of Jean-Baptiste Kalendrin, illegible Paris date letter,

in a fitted red leather presentation case,
