Description

the underside of the back rail stamped TEISSIER

height 35 in.; width 21 in.; depth 19 ½ in.

89 cm; 53.5 cm; 49.5 cm

A pair of armchairs of the same model stamped TEISSIER was sold Sotheby's New York, 27 January 1996, lot 187. It is suggested the stamp may refer to a 19th-century Parisian furniture maker and restorer of this name recorded at 10 rue de l'Observance, place de I'Ecole-de-Médecine, from 1826 to 1833, and subsequently at 7 rue de Monsieur-le-Prince until 1844.
