This work is registered in the Blanca Pons-Sorolla archive under number BPS 1912 and will be included in volume III of the catalogue raisonné of Sorolla's paintings, to be published in 2027, which will include works painted between 1904 and 1911.
Acquired at the Hispanic Society of America exhibition by Robert J. F. Schwarzenbach, New York, in 1909 for $400 (Schwarzenbach (1875-1929) was a New York silk merchant, president of the Schwarzenbach-Huber Company and Honorary Consul General of Switzerland)
Rudolf Kalderén, Stockholm, by circa 1928 (Kalderén (1900-1984) was Managing Director and President of Nordiska Kompaniet, historically the largest and most prestigious luxury department store in Stockholm )
Thence to Kalderén's first wife Gunhild Maria, née Holmquist in 1948
Thence by descent to the present owner in 2001
