of shaped rectangular form, the lid centred with a raised panel chased with goddess Diana, a putto and her dog on a sablé ground, within strapwork on a polished ground, chased rocaille spandrels, the outer border chased with gryphons, dogs and foliate scrollwork, the sides and base similarly decorated, slender thumbpiece, apparently unmarked apart from post-1838 French control mark and later post 1918 control mark,
