Executed in 1970, this impression is a proof before letters from the poster edition of 100 created for the 'Recent Engravings' exhibition at the Madoura Gallery (May-June 1970).

Picasso collaborated with French ceramicist Jules Agard for over 20 years at the Madoura studio in Vallauris, where the latter worked as technical director.
