This signed still life is the work of David Teniers Junior, the son of David Teniers the Younger (1610–1690) and the grandson of David Teniers the Elder (1582–1649). The handling of the figure is consistent with other signed and dated works by the artist, executed in the 1670s. The still life elements are the work of an unknown artist painting in the style of Peeter Boel (1622–1674). We are grateful to Dr Fred Meijer for endorsing the attribution to David Teniers Junior and for his assistance in cataloguing this lot.
