Copy of the religious marriage certificate of the Emperor Napoléon and Empress Joséphine.

Autograph document signed by Cardinal Fesh.

Paris, 6 Nivôse an X [27 décembre 1804].

A half page on a bifolio (397 x 253 mmm). Ink on bluish paper, armorial seal on red wax. Bordered.

The religious marriage of Napoléon and Josephine took place at the Tuileries on December 1, 1804 in the presence of the parish priest of Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois, Talleyrand and Marshal Berthier. Cardinal Fesch received the consent of the spouses. The crowning took place the following day at Notre-Dame and the civil marriage on March 9, 1796 at the town hall of the 2^nd arrondissement.
