Collection of Wilhelm Anton Fritz Euler (1911 - 1994) and thence by descent

Wilhelm Anton Fritz Euler was a businessman and patron of the arts and nature. Born in Frankfurt, Germany 10th September, 1911 to an illustrious family, Fritz studied at private school and then attended Oxford University in England, before leaving Germany at the onset of World War Two. His parents provided a ticket round the world and Fritz arranged his own transport, booking a one-way trip to the United States. He settled in America and flourished in the business world, serving as chairman and president of several corporations.


This picture is closely related to the painting Dawn by Newton, which dates to March 1936 and is in the collection of Ferens Art Gallery, Hull.
