The present lot was designed by Eyre de Lanux and woven by Evelyn Wyld, who also collaborated with Eileen Gray. This rug is one of the rare surviving examples of Lanux’s "Kufic" designs from the late 1920s. The design features a central square framed by mirrored, maze-like abstract inscriptions, reflecting patterns exhibited at the 1929 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, held in Paris.
