Florian Borkenhagen is a German artist whose work deliberately blurs the boundaries between art and design by deconstructing and transforming everyday objects into meaningful artworks. Movement serves as a central theme in his practice, exemplified by kinetic sculptures and conceptual pieces like "Travel A-Head" (1998-2000), a three-meter wooden head sculpture that traveled the world atop a container ship for two years. Borkenhagen participated in Documenta 8 (1987) and established "Laboratorio Como" in Italy (1990-1995), focusing on "industrial archaeology". Working within the Arte Povera tradition, he continues to transform found materials and refuse into unique art pieces through workshops and exhibitions, challenging perceptions while creating humorous and conceptual interventions in everyday reality.
