Churchill, Winston
Marlborough: His Life and Times. London: George G. Harrap & Co., 1934-1938
3 volumes only (lacking volume I), 8vo. Bookplate in IV loose. Blue calf, stamped and lettered in gilt; rubbed with some loss.
First editions, volume III signed in ink on the half title by Churchill; the other two volumes initialed by him.
Marlborough is a panegyric biography about John Churchill, 1st Duke Marlborough, an English soldier and statesman and Churchill's ancestor. It was described as "a revelation" in Stuart history.
Volume II is the first edition, second printing of the general trade issue. Volumes III and IV are the first editions of the general trade issue.
