Spanning over 6,000+ consecutive days without interruption, Beeple’s Everydays is widely regarded as the foundational artwork of the NFT movement. The 2021 sale of Everydays: The First 5000 Days for $69.3 million not only shattered auction records—it marked a historic inflection point that catapulted NFTs and digital art into the global mainstream. What began in 2007 as a daily practice of image-making has evolved into one of the most culturally significant and technically ambitious art projects of the 21st century. Everydays functions as both a visual journal and cultural archive, chronicling humanity’s accelerated entanglement with technology, politics, and media through Beeple’s distinct lens of dark satire and hyper-rendered spectacle.

INNERSPACE, Day #5158, is one of a small group of Everydays that were originally embedded deep within Beeple’s HUMAN ONE, the hybrid kinetic sculpture unveiled in 2021 that continuously evolves via blockchain updates. These “hidden gems” were not sold, but need to be unlocked through a series of clues -- with one edition going to the winner and the other going to the owner of HUMAN ONE.  Their emergence not only reveals a meta-layer within Beeple’s multiverse but underscores his recursive storytelling, where artworks live inside other artworks. Each of these rare images contains a visual echo of HUMAN ONE: the ever-present astronaut—a digital nomad traversing constructed realities.

In this composition, we witness a haunting procession of hooded figures entering the body of a fallen astronaut sprawled across a desert landscape—an act that feels both ritualistic and symbolic. The figure, clad in HUMAN ONE’s signature astronaut suit, becomes a vessel—part monument, part tomb, part portal. The work plays on themes of submission to technology, the pilgrimage inward, and the fragmentation of identity in a post-physical world. As with the best of Beeple’s work, it’s visually arresting, narratively open-ended, and conceptually loaded—a poetic artifact pulled from the heart of a larger machine.
