FIRST EDITION, folio (600 x 460mm), 23 engraved plates only (of 28) and some text, loosely corner mounted, and c.30 pencil drawings of views and portraits, 33 unsigned pencil drawings bound in at end, green morocco-backed cloth, lacking title, spotted and foxed, the last plate with smaller margins, binding rubbed; sold as a collection of plates and drawings not subject to return


PORTRAITS OF HEROES FROM THE GREEK WAR OF INDEPENDENCE. "Krazeisen accompanied [Carl Wilhelm] von Heideck and the Bavarian philhellenes to Greece in 1826 as first lieutenant. He was an amateur artist who made drawings throughout his stay in Greece, which included periods in Nauplion, Poros, Damilas, Zakinthos and Athens. His original drawings are now in possession of the National Gallery, Athens" (Blackmer).
