Description

RAPPI, FRANCESCO. Novo thesauro delle tre castita. (Bologna: Girolamo Benedetti, 9 March 1515)


Francesco Rappi came from a noble family from the Lunigiana region of Tuscany; he became a priest and wrote several works of a pious and devotional nature.


4to (204 x 145 mm). Roman type, double column, 39 lines plus headline. Collation: A-P4 Q6: 61 leaves (of 66, lacking quire G4 and final blank). Woodcut printer's device at end. (Title-page repaired and soiled, first few leaves frayed.)


Binding: Later vellum (209 x 155 mm), morocco lettering-piece on spine. (Binding slightly soiled, lettering-piece chipped.)


Provenance: Libreria G. Gallarini, Rome, ink stamp on flyleaf — Museo Brookers, red ink stamp on inside front cover. Acquisition: Purchased in 1962 from Elliot's Books, New Haven. References: Edit16 47558
